A feisty cat fight will be fought as Coral Springs Charter Panthers duke it out with West Broward Bobcats at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Coral Springs Charter will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Coral Springs Charter earned a 6-1 win over Stoneman Douglas.
Addi Michel and Bree Martinelli did most of the damage at the plate: Michel scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Martinelli went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Martinelli has posted since back in May of 2024. Heather Robertson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Coral Springs Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, West Broward's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of American Heritage by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
West Broward saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alivia Artanis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Artanis also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Coral Springs Charter's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Broward, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coral Springs Charter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Broward struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Coral Springs Charter took their win against West Broward in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coral Springs Charter since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
