Video: 10-year-old lands Division I offer
See why Bunchie Young has the University of Illinois excited.Bunchie Young is halfway between preschool and high school, yet the 10-year-old athlete from Los Angeles already has a Division I college football offer from the University of Illinois.
The fourth-grader reportedly scooped up the offer from the Fighting Illini in May, according to sports trainer Mike Evans of LacedFacts Training Facility. The offer was also retweeted by Illinois Offensive Coordinator Garrick McGee.
Young is an absolute blur on the gridiron and on the track. The Class of 2025 speedster ran a 12.4-second 100-meter dash and plays running back, wide receiver and defensive back. He recorded 30 touchdowns and snagged four interceptions last season for the Hub City TarHeels.
Evans, a former safety at the University of Louisville, recognizes his potential.
"Young has the ability to score every time he touches the ball," Evans said. "He's simply gifted with speed and unreal footwork. The kid has an unbelievable work ethic and the sky is the limit for him."
