The St. Joseph Academy Flashes fell victim to the Eastside Rams''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 43-0 loss at the hands of the Rams. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Eastside is ranked 198th).
Cody Ott threw for 59 yards on six of 11 attempts. Raymond Evans was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Among those leading the charge was Adrian Curtis, who threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Curtis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Corvin Byrd, who rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for St. Joseph Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for Eastside, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
St. Joseph Academy will play host again and welcome Legacy Charter, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy Charter comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Eastside, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Santa Fe is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
