The Telfair County Trojans lost against the Montgomery County Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Telfair County suffered a rough 67-46 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. Telfair County has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Telfair County still got an impressive performance from Zah'Mya McDuffie, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. McDuffie is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Trinity Deeds was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Leading Montgomery County to victory were Amire Banks and Marley Bell. Banks scored 20 points along with seven assists and five steals, while Bell dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds. Bell is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dekimber Wright, who scored ten points.
Telfair County's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Montgomery County, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home.
Telfair County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Wilcox County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Montgomery County, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Claxton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Eagles are ranked 99th).
