Okeechobee's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Rockledge 48-45.
Justice Shanks was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Okeechobee's points. Another player making a difference was Kendranique Wiggins, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Park Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 68-6 win over Astronaut on the road. Fans of Lincoln Park Academy have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Lincoln Park Academy found their leader in underclassman Ta'tyannah Thompson, who scored 15 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists. Faith Hall was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds.
The losses dropped Okeechobee to 1-3 and Rockledge to 0-3.
Okeechobee was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln Park Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 45-34. Will Okeechobee repeat their success, or does Lincoln Park Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
