Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Carvers Bay's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Military Magnet Academy, Carvers Bay was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They strolled past the Conway Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 46-28. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Tigers are ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carvers Bay had a senior duo take command as D'Essence Graham posted 11 points in addition to six boards and six steals and Alana Morris had seven points along with six boards and three steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Graham. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmyn Jenkins, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Carvers Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conway only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Conway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dae?Viyana Willis, who posted nine points and three steals. That's the most points Willis has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ahchiya Hill, who had six points and eight rebounds.

Carvers Bay is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Conway, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Carvers Bay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-36 victory against Marion on the 30th. As for Conway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 30-20 loss against Lee Central on the 30th.
