Charlestown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Corydon Central, sneaking past 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Hannah Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katie Pickerell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Stewart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Franklin County challenged Jennings County on Thursday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 15th.
Franklin County also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jillian Harris gave up only one earned run on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Emily Fellure was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson Bischoff, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
The win made it two in a row for Franklin County and bumps their season record up to 13-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Charlestown, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Charlestown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Franklin County struggles in that department as they've averaged .392. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
