Baseball Recap: Bedford Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bedford won against Timberlane on Wednesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Merrimack Tomahawks with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Nate Duquette and James Gilbert did most of the damage at the plate: Duquette went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Gilbert went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gilbert continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Crowley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Bedford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Bedford, bringing their record up to 14-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Merrimack, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bedford will square off against rival Goffstown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bulldogs have won six straight at home, while the Grizzlies won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Merrimack is set to face off against their familiar foe Nashua North at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
