The Freedom Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the James Madison Warhawks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Freedom sitting on 27 straight wins dating back to last season and James Madison on five.
Freedom had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their game on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 50-7 win over Battlefield. Considering Freedom has won 11 matchups by more than 35 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tristan Evans-Trujillo was his usual excellent self, throwing for 209 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Evans-Trujillo is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, James Madison can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They put the hurt on Westfield with a sharp 31-7 win. James Madison's victory was all the more impressive since Westfield was averaging only 12 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Dominic Knicely, who rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Knicely was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Cael Yates was another key contributor, throwing for 77 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Freedom's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for James Madison, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 12-1 record.
Everything came up roses for Freedom against James Madison in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 48-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freedom since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
