It was a good run, but the Salida Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Banning Lewis Academy by a score of 64-61. Salida was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stallions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Joseph Bjegovich continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Banning Lewis Academy, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bjegovich has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyson Robertson, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Salida's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3. As for Banning Lewis Academy, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salida will face off against the Thunder at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Banning Lewis Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado Springs Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Stallions are ranked 55th).
