The McKinney Lions will face off against the Plano West Wolves at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Wednesday, McKinney needed a bit of extra time to put away Princeton. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 11-9.

Adyson Gaddis made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kady Huggins was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Abbi James, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
McKinney hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Princeton struck out 14 times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plano West). They won by a run and slipped past Plano 17-16. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
Plano West let Brooke Reasoner and Elyse Mikes run wild. Reasoner got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Mikes went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Carrillo, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
McKinney's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-14-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 4.75 runs. As for Plano West, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
McKinney suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Plano West in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can McKinney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
