Softball Recap: Flanagan Starts Season with Victory Against Everglades

Flanagan gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Everglades Gators as the Flanagan Falcons made off with a 17-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Emily Arias and Jasmine Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Arias scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Gonzalez scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. What's more, Arias posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amy Chacko, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Flanagan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everglades only posted an OBP of .364.

Flanagan has already played their next contest, a 19-0 defeat against Stoneman Douglas on the 20th. As for Everglades, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-0 loss against South Broward on the 25th.
