Dillon and Loris are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Dillon Wildcats face off against the Loris Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Dillon is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Marlboro County 79-45 last Friday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Dillon can attribute much of their success to Treasure Davis, who went 13 of 19 en route to 29 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Khwnylahi Mckinnon, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Those eight assists gave Mckinnon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayonna Lester, who posted 11 points along with six boards and three steals.
Dillon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Loris took their game last Friday with ease, bagging a 67-24 win over Georgetown. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dillon better keep an eye on Janiya Richburg. She was instrumental in Loris' win, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Richburg has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mari'Asia Moody, who earned 11 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.
Dillon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Loris, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Dillon has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 31.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Loris struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Dillon was able to grind out a solid win over Loris in their previous matchup on January 9th, winning 50-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dillon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
