Given Houston County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Thomas County Central is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Malachi Jackson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Devan Robinson, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Thomas County Central saw an underclassman step up: Quincy Anderson scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Colby Mullinax, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Houston County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Thomas County Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.
Houston County will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tift County at 7:30 p.m. Houston County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Tift County likes a good challenge. As for Thomas County Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Brooks County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brooks County is coming into the game with four straight defeats at home, meaning Thomas County Central will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
