Baseball Recap: Lakeland Christian Beats Frostproof for Their Fifth Straight Win

Lakeland Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Frostproof Bulldogs a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Martin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lakeland Christian got a massive performance out of Peyton Brenneman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brody Brenneman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lakeland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win was the fifth in a row for Lakeland Christian, bringing their record up to 19-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Frostproof, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Lakeland Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-2 defeat against Santa Fe Catholic on the 17th. Frostproof does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
