Washington is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Kellis a six-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Washington Rams will be playing at home against the Kellis Cougars at 3:45 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Washington will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Moon Valley on Monday. The Rams blew past the Rockets 18-5.
Carol Hanna made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Hanna was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Alyssa Lopez was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs. Yesenia Zarate was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .519 that Moon Valley posted.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kellis). They were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over North Canyon on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now won four in a row.
Marianna Carrizoza and Juliana Calleros did most of the damage at the plate: Carrizoza got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Calleros got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Carrizoza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sariah Rojas, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Washington's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Kellis, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Washington might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Kellis in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
