Windsor is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out to face off against the Proctor Phantoms at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Windsor hadn't beaten Thetford Academy on the road since April 15, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-6.
The team relied heavily on Cassie Clark, who fired off three triples, three runs, and one RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three triples gave her a new career-high. Mackenzie Kleefisch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Proctor hadn't done well against West Rutland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Saturday. The Phantoms came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Horde, sneaking past 12-11. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phantoms.
Olivia Graham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits. Graham was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Izzy Smith and Madi Baker did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Baker went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dylan Collins, who went 1-for-4 with three runs.
Windsor now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Proctor, their record is now 2-0.
