Given Lanham Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Northwest is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lanham Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diego Joy led the charge by scoring 17 points. The match was Joy's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Naz Joy was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Lanham Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Lanham Christian will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Einstein at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. Northwest will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Paint Branch at 7:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
