The Lanham Christian Lions waltzed into their match Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 65-49 win over Northwest. Given Lanham Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Northwest is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lanham Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diego Joy led the charge by scoring 17 points. The match was Joy's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Naz Joy was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Lanham Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Lanham Christian will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Einstein at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. Northwest will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Paint Branch at 7:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
