New Albany and the Panthers are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The New Albany Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Jennings County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Albany is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
New Albany posted their closest win since November 25, 2023 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Jasper 57-54.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you drain seven more threes than your opponent, a fact Jennings County proved on Saturday. They put the hurt on Connersville with a sharp 73-47 victory. Given Jennings County's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Spartans are ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Carter Kent, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Jennings County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Millspaugh, who scored 14 points.
New Albany is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Jennings County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
New Albany came up short against the Panthers in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 51-39. Can New Albany avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
