Bishop McLaughlin Catholic had lost 12 games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 4-9 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Hernando Christian Academy Lions 22-12. The result was nothing new for the Hurricanes, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cleopatra Cabrera made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off only two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Catherine Bell was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Castelli, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Hernando Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15. Even if they couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
On Hernando Christian Academy's side, Piper Gill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Emma Hendricks was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will head out on the road to challenge Wildwood at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hurricanes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Hernando Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
