The Douglas Tigers were the 75-57 winner over the Damonte Ranch Mustangs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Douglas fell 65-54 to Damonte Ranch on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Douglas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Damonte Ranch is ranked sixth).
Despite the loss, Douglas still got an impressive performance from Jett Lehmann, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Reese Torres, who scored eight points.
Damonte Ranch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Anderson has scored at least 25% of Damonte Ranch's points. Shane Sisco was another key contributor, scoring 24 points.
Douglas' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Damonte Ranch, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas will face off against Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carson is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Damonte Ranch, they will head out on the road to face off against Galena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Galena and Damonte Ranch are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
