The Bloomfield Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 45-22 loss at the hands of Northeast Dubois. While losing is never fun, Bloomfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Northeast Dubois is ranked 121st).
Northeast Dubois was led to victory by Lyllee Schnell and Macey Harrison. Schnell scored five points along with 16 rebounds and three blocks, while Harrison scored 12 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Bella Cummins was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Bloomfield bumped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Northeast Dubois, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Bloomfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Loogootee at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loogootee and Bloomfield are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Northeast Dubois, they will head out on the road to face off against Southridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southridge is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
