The Auburn Mountainview Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Jefferson Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Auburn Mountainview managed to slip by Kentlake the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions lost 14-3 to the Falcons on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered against the Falcons since April 21, 2023.
Auburn Mountainview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Shoul, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Shoul's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson hadn't done well against Federal Way recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Raiders blew past the Eagles 12-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the game before.
Wyatt Ford tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jefferson let Kort Baker and Andre Redmond run wild. Baker went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Redmond went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Redmond has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Xavier Fondale, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Jefferson's record is now 7-10. As for Auburn Mountainview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Auburn Mountainview skirted past Jefferson 6-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
