Wheeler walked away with a 36-29 win over Kennesaw Mountain. Given Wheeler's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Kennesaw Mountain is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wheeler's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Allen, who rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 34 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Wheeler also got a significant boost from Marcus Romain, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 120 yards.
Kennesaw Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Harmon, who rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns. Melvin Emioma was another key contributor, rushing for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Wheeler will look to defend their home field on Friday against Walton at 7:30 p.m. Walton will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Cherokee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cherokee is on a four-game streak of home losses, Kennesaw Mountain a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
