The Legend Titans will challenge the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Legend has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Mountain Vista will come in with six straight victories.
Legend lost 22-11 to Ponderosa on Thursday. Even if the Titans couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Carson Reffel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Brush, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista won against Rock Canyon on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Golden Eagles beat Heritage by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Alex King made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Keaton Maiorana looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, Mountain Vista let Spike Magill and Cole Bobbin run wild. Magill went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Bobbin went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Bobbin a new career-high. Cruz Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Mountain Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mountain Vista's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Legend, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Legend might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from Mountain Vista in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
