UPLAND, Calif. - the Highlanders/Scots scored 21 points in the second quarter to secure a big 35-6 victory over
Great Oak (Temecula, Calif.) on Saturday.
Upland scored on a touchdown run by
Nate Romine, a defensive touchdown and a
Tyler Bratton touchdown run in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Jake Chapman touchdown pass to
Anthony Romero in the first quarter, UHS led 28-0 at the half.
The Highlanders/Scots expanded their lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. Upland's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by
Kyle Huddleston to Romero.
With the win UHS extended its winning streak to 11 games. The Highlanders/Scots defeated the Eagles 57-39 last week.
Romero was the top performer for Upland. The senior tight end caught two touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
The Wolfpack's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Led by
Joe Mathis, UHS entered the contest giving up 18.5 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Great Oak well below its season average of 28.5 points scored per game.
The loss comes after Great Oak defeated Murrieta Mesa 37-21 last week. The loss snapped GO's 2-game winning streak.
