Constitution has gone a perfect 5-0 against Paul Robeson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Constitution Generals will be playing at home against the Paul Robeson Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Constitution didn't have too much trouble with Strawberry Mansion as they won 73-55. Given the Generals' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th in Pennsylvania, while the Knights are ranked 459th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Constitution got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alantay Dawson out in front who went 7-for-12 on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Khaleek Johnson, who posted 14 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Paul Robeson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on February 11th. They took down Science Leadership Academy at Beeber 89-75 on Tuesday.
Constitution better keep an eye on Jasir Tyler. He was instrumental in Paul Robeson's win, going 7-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 42 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Thanks to that strong game, Tyler now owns an excellent 47.7% field goal percentage. Shiheed Rice-Sloan was another key player, going 9-for-14 en route to 20 points.
Paul Robeson's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.9 points over those games. As for Constitution, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Constitution has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Paul Robeson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Constitution beat Paul Robeson 62-53 in their previous matchup on February 11th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Tyler, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 17 points along with eight steals and seven assists. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Constitution still be able to contain Tyler? There's only one way to find out.
