After flying high against Coral Glades last Wednesday, Taravella came back down to earth. The Taravella Trojans took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Western Wildcats on Thursday. Like Taravella, Western also got a great game from a two-way player: Zach Beyra. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Beyra was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Ryan Schaefer looked comfortable as he pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances.
Back at the plate, Geo Escandon was excellent, going 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Taravella's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Western, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
