The Saugerties Sawyers had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a  65-59 W over Cornwall Central on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
 Saugerties' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Nick Stinemire, who  scored 13 points along with 8  rebounds and 4  steals. Another player making a difference was  Jack Parisio, who  scored 13 points along with 6  rebounds.
 Saugerties' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cornwall Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
 Saugerties will be playing at home against Highland at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Cornwall Central will take on Pine Bush in a holiday battle at 5:00  p.m.  on December 15th at.
