On Sunday, the St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions faced the Bullis Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Andrew's Episcopal was outmatched by Bullis on the road and fell 86-37. St. Andrew's Episcopal has not had much luck with Bullis recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, St. Andrew's Episcopal had strong showings from Lamaria Estridge, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Sophia Brooks, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Ivanna Manyacka was her usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-4 from long range and dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds for Bullis. Manyacka hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Troutman, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
St. Andrew's Episcopal has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Bullis, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Andrew's Episcopal will take on Flint Hill at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Andrew's Episcopal is facing Flint Hill at the right time seeing as Flint Hill is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bullis, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Potomac School at 5:45 p.m. on February 13th. Bullis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Potomac School likes a good challenge.
