The Bellevue Wolverines will head out to challenge the Mount Si Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bellevue has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while Mount Si will arrive with four straight wins.
Bellevue is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Hazen on Wednesday, falling 20-13. Even if the Wolverines couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Nora Nielsen stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Leia Morales, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Mount Si got the win against Sammamish on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-1. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Nowak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ally Hetzel, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Avery Bielenberg was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Mount Si was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in seven consecutive matches.
Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mount Si, their record is now 6-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Bellevue hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mount Si struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
