After flying high against the Myrtle Hawks on Monday, the Vardaman Rams came back down to earth. Vardaman took a serious blow against Houlka on Tuesday, falling 73-40. It was the first time this season that Vardaman let down their fans at home.
Houlka had a senior duo take command as Elijah Kilpatrick scored 15 points and Neal Moore scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Tyler Winter was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Vardaman's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5. As for Houlka, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Vardaman will head out on the road to face off against North Pontotoc at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. North Pontotoc is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Houlka is on the road again on December 28th and play against Starkville Academy at 10:45 a.m. on December 28th. Starkville Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
