After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fresno Christian, the Chowchilla Tribe were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mariposa County and snuck past 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Chowchilla has posted since December 7, 2023.
Chowchilla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Deatherage led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. Deatherage is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zayne Smith, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Chowchilla's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Mariposa County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chowchilla will take on Minarets at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Minarets is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mariposa County, they will play host again and welcome Gustine, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
