Basketball Recap: Adams City Takes a Loss

Adams City played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 70-39 loss at the hands of the Prairie View Thunderhawks. The Eagles were down 56-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Adams City lost, don't look at Jojo Martinez. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points. Martinez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Bryan Medina was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Adams City was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Javon Brewton, who went 12 of 22 on his way to 32 points for Prairie View. That's the most points Brewton has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Chidiebere Akotaobi, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Adams City's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Prairie View, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Adams City will venture away from home to square off against Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams City is facing Greeley West at the right time seeing as Greeley West is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Prairie View, they will host Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Prairie View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
