Baseball Game Preview: Deming Wildcats vs. Chaparral Lobos

Deming has gone 8-2 against Chaparral recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Lobos at 6:00 p.m. Deming is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Deming is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since March 5th on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cathedral, sneaking past 9-8.

Jose Duran was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mosier, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Deming was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Chaparral didn't have quite enough to beat Cathedral on Monday and fell 4-3. The Lobos have struggled against the Fighting Irish recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Chaparral saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Molina, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Deming, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Deming has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Deming took their victory against Chaparral in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
