Palmer Ridge dropped down to 19-4 on Friday, ending the team's ten-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Lutheran Lions by a score of 5-4. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 10-7.
Pam Boyarko put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Boyarko was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Kayleigh Garcia made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
As for Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.
On Lutheran's side, Annie Schroeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reese Walker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kiley Glenn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
As of now, neither Palmer Ridge nor Lutheran have any future games scheduled.
