The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Odyssey Charter School Titans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Cocoa Beach fought the good fight in their overtime game against Seabreeze on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 82-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sandcrabs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Monday (63), Cocoa Beach still had to take the loss.
Cocoa Beach might have lost, but man, Jay Matthews was a machine: he scored 40 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Matthews scored a full 52.6% of Cocoa Beach's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Max Louis, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-36, which was the final score in Odyssey Charter School's tilt against John Carroll Catholic on Monday. Odyssey Charter School was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
This is the second loss in a row for Cocoa Beach and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Odyssey Charter School, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Everything came up roses for Cocoa Beach against Odyssey Charter School in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 59-13 victory. Will Cocoa Beach repeat their success, or does Odyssey Charter School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
