The Laporte Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-43 walloping at the hands of Red Lake. Laporte lost against Red Lake in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 45-26 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Red Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lily Pemberton, who scored 25 points along with five steals. Pemberton is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ce?Angela Pemberton was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five steals.
Laporte's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.2 points per game. As for Red Lake, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laporte will square off against Blackduck at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Red Lake won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cass Lake-Bena at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. One thing working in Cass Lake-Bena's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
