Jacob Luckette was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Braxton Stormant was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ryan Moody was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Aucilla Christian won against Brooks County on Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Warriors beat Godby by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. Considering the Warriors have won 11 games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Hamilton County, Aucilla Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Collin Campbell. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Campbell has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Aucilla Christian is undefeated when Campbell posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Wiles, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Aucilla Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Dalton Demott, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Aucilla Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Aucilla Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hamilton County, their record now sits at 5-16.
Hamilton County might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Aucilla Christian in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
