The North Ridgeville Rangers will face off against the Steele Comets at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (North Ridgeville 3.9, Steele 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Steele will be up against a hot North Ridgeville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Rangers' way against Avon Lake on Monday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Naomi Bottomlee made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other pitching news, Selena Bottomlee looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Paige Piccolomini was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kasey Melvin was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
North Ridgeville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avon Lake only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Steele has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.05 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell just short of Avon Lake by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Comets have suffered since April 2nd.
North Ridgeville's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Steele, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
North Ridgeville beat Steele 4-1 when the teams last played on April 12th. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
