The Monticello Panthers can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 36-23 win over Port Jervis. The win was just what Monticello needed coming off of a 67-21 loss in their prior game.
Monticello can attribute much of their success to Amiah Neails, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Neails has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Hutchins, who scored seven points.
Monticello's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Port Jervis, they bumped their record down to 0-1 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will challenge Valley Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Port Jervis, they will head out on the road to face off against Fallsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fallsburg comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
