The Kentwood Kangaroos were the 59-31 winner over the Springfield Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Kentwood received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 63-44 to Springfield. While losing is never fun, Kentwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Springfield is ranked 128th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dequane Davis, who scored 11 points along with 8 steals. The contest was Davis' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowen Harris, who scored 14 points.
Kentwood are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Springfield, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kentwood will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against East Feliciana at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Springfield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Doyle at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Doyle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Springfield likes a good challenge.
