Appleton North gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the West De Pere Phantoms 52-49. For the Lightning, this counts as revenge for the 63-46 win the Phantoms walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.
Several Phantoms players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Clara Hoffman, who posted 15 points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Rattray, who had seven points and five steals.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Appleton North will host Bay Port at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West De Pere, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Hortonville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
