Longmont is 4-0 against Greeley West since February of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Longmont Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Greeley West Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Longmont is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Longmont was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Holy Family.
The losing side was boosted by Levi Scheck, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Varga, who scored two points.
Meanwhile, Greeley West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Greeley Central 76-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Greeley West has suffered since November 30, 2023.
Greeley West's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacob Flores, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds, and Andrew Zepeda who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Longmont has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Greeley West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Dominic Lombrano and Zepeda. Lombrano has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 10.5 points, 2.2 steals, and 3.2 rebounds. For his part, Zepeda has averaged 13.6 points, 2.9 steals, and 2.6 assists.
Everything came up roses for Longmont against Greeley West when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 77-23 victory. With Longmont ahead 33-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
