The Concord Christian Academy Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Fairwinds Christian 30-25. Concord Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fairwinds Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the defeat, Concord Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Aubrey Collison scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Collison pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Fairwinds Christian found their leader in underclassman Gabby Johnson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Concord Christian Academy dropped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.6 points per game. As for Fairwinds Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Delaware (Calvary Christian Academy is ranked 42nd, while Concord Christian Academy is ranked 55th). As for Fairwinds Christian, they and Greenwood Mennonite will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Greenwood Mennonite will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Fairwinds Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
