The team relied heavily on Shelby Zigler, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Kylie Henry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Freeport made easy work of Destin on Tuesday and carried off a 13-4 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Kaylee Carroll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Kayla Stephens was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kaylee Worrell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
Central's record now sits at 6-3. As for Freeport, their record is now 4-5.
Freeport's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Freeport, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Central keep running through batters, or will Freeport buck the trend?
Central suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Freeport in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
