The Goshen Eagles couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 45-23 walloping at the hands of Brantley on Monday. Goshen lost against Brantley in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 36-27 score last time.
Brantley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myia Mount led the charge by dropping a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds. Mount is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Grimes, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds.
Goshen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Brantley, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Goshen will head out on the road to face off against New Brockton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brantley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McKenzie at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th.
