Softball Recap: Southmont Wins Going Away Against Lebanon

Southmont lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lebanon, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Mounties put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 8-2 win on Tuesday. The Mounties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ella Barry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Mallory Mason was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Douglas, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Southmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lebanon only posted a batting average of .240.

Southmont's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-7. As for Lebanon, they moved to 17-8 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Southmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
