The Carnegie Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 62-54 to Hinton. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Carnegie of the 53-33 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Carnegie's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elvira Lopez, who scored 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Karlee Tahkofper who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 35.2% of Carnegie's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Carnegie bumped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Hinton, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Carnegie won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Riverside Indian at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Riverside Indian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. Hinton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hammon at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hammon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hinton in Oklahoma (Hammon is ranked 29th, while Hinton is ranked 221st).
