Winchester Community and Monroe Central are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Golden Falcons will be taking part in a tournament against the Golden Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Winchester Community's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Randolph Southern with a sharp 16-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Falcons.
Dravin Whitehead made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, McCormac Anderson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen Porfidio, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases.
Winchester Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monroe Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Tri on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won six in a row.
Caleb Luedike and Carter Duncan did most of the damage at the plate: Luedike went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Duncan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Luedike has become a key player for Monroe Central: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Bogue, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory got Monroe Central back to even at 10-10. As for Winchester Community, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Winchester Community beat Monroe Central 10-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Golden Falcons repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
